Dressing Business Casual

14 January 2009 No Comment

Every gaysian, regardless of what job he has should always have a closet with a good number of business casual clothes, and I’m sure most of you guys do have a good number, however, are you sure that your closet has exactly the thing that will accentuate the gentleman out of you? Some simple pointers that should go a long way:

  • The Vest
The vest is one of those helpful pieces in your wardrobe that can revitalize a dress shirt that you may have gotten bored of. While in the olden days in England it had been a required piece in a suit, nowadays the vest can be used the give class to a casual outfit. Next time you step out the door perhaps try wearing a vest with a casual white shirt and dark jeans.
  • Shoulders
When purchasing a dress shirt, make sure that the shoulder line does not exceed your own shoulder. If that should happen, you’ll end up looking extremely unbalanced.
  • When in Doubt Wear Striped Navy Blue Pants
If you’re conflicted with what pants to wear for a function and want to end your suffering, the best way to go is to wear a pair of striped navy blue pants. The dark navy blue will give a very affluent feel to the gaysian while the stripes will allow the gaysian to look tall and majestic.
  • The Credit Card Wallet
A regular wallet will likely fatten up your pockets and give a rather odd look for the classy gaysian. For events and parties, a good substitute is either a money clip or a credit card wallet to store only the essential cards and a bit of cash.
  • A Pin on the Blazer
A pin on the blazer can make you stand out in a crowd and really give your look a personality, however, please make sure to put on a simple pin and nothing too tacky.
  • Know How to Tie a Tie
We assume that all gaysians know how to tie the basic tie, however, if you do not know then you had better learn ASAP. Here is a good resource we find useful on the topic of tie tying.
  • Socks
Your socks should be darker than your suit, however, slightly lighter color than your shoes. Though a safe bet usually are black socks.
